Southwest Lake Charles is generally considered to be South of I-210 and West of Common Street. Access to I-210 makes an easy drive to local industries,Lafayette, Beaumont, and Houston. L'Auberge du Lac Hotel & Casino is located in this area of Lake Charles.
Stillwood, Stephens Place, Whispering Woods, University Place, Barbe Country Estates, The Trails, Highland Meadows and the Queen of Heaven area offer homes with prices varying between $125,000 - $240,000. Homes in these subdivisions typically, have 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, are between 5-25 years old and feature 1200 -1800 square feet of living area.
Timberly Terrace, Bayouwood, Chalkley Estates, Weaver Park, Country Club Acres, Cambridge Court, Woodcrest, St.Charles Place, Chateau Circle, Quail Hollow, Morgan Creek, Rosamond Estates, Oxford Court, Kingswood, and the Lake Street area offer older homes mixed with newer homes with prices ranging from $180,000-$285,000. LAKE CHARLES (East)
East Lake Charles encompasses that area North of I-210 and East of Ryan Street. Greenwich Terrace, Broadmoor, and Himont are examples of this area that features cottage style homes between 10-40 years with square footage of 1000-1600. Price ranges vary from $20,000-$125,000.

LAKE CHARLES (West)
North of I-210 and West of Ryan Street, you will find Margaret Place, Lafitte Landing, Rio Hondo, Barbe Court, and St. Patrick Hospital. This is known as the Lake Street area. Planned Communities
Graywood, located in South Lake Charles, is the first planned community in Louisiana. It consists of five neighborhoods, with views of the Graywood 18-hole, award winning golf course. Vacant lots, homes of various sizes and townhomes are available in this exclusive community. There is a Sports Club Facility, Club House and Golf membership available to residents.
Providence is a another new planned community currently in the development stage with lots available.
SULPHUR
Sulphur offers several advantages, including easy access to local industry and interstate highway. Sulphur is approximately 12 miles west of Lake Charles and only 20 minutes from Vinton, home of Delta Downs Race Track and Casino.

Bonin Estates, Forest Hills, Audubon Place, Gilmar Acres, Sylvan Oaks, and Forest Park,are lovely wooded subdivisions with approximately 100-foot lots and larger brick homes. The average age is around 8 years with square footages between 2000-2800. One should expect to pay $100,000-$300,000 plus for homes in these neighborhoods.
CARLYSS
Most homes in this area, which is South of Sulphur, are on at least an acre of property and are ranch-style in design. There is a wide range of homes and land sizes and prices are $75,000-$500,000 plus, depending on style and location.
WESTLAKE
There are a large variety of homes in this community from older frame houses on piers to newer ranch-style brick models. Sizes range from 1200-1800 square feet and from $45,000-$200,000 in price. Westlake also boasts new construction and older waterfront homes on the Calcasieu River.. The prices range from $300,000 plus.

MOSS BLUFF
The Moss Bluff community is approximately 10 miles North of Lake Charles with access from Hwy 171 or Hwy 378 (West through Westlake). It includes Southern Belle, Pine Bluff Estates, Indian Hills, Sam Houston Forest, Cypress Lake, Pentangeli, and Moss Bluff Estates. Homes in these subdivisions are usually on one-acre lots and have been built within the last 10 years. Most are ranch style homes with 1400-2000 square feet with prices between $120,000-$200,000.
Tan Tara, Jamestown, Park Manor, Alamo, French Settlement, St. James Place, Magnolia Forest, Indian Acres, Roman Forest Estates, and Woodland Hills are subdivisions that also offer lovely wooded subdivisions with one-acre lots and larger homes. Living areas vary from 2000-3000 square feet with prices of $140,000-$270,000.
